Dog Island Anguilla G reat Bay, magnifique mais souvent rouleur, est le seul mouillage possible autour de Dog Island. Il devient toutefois impraticable en cas de houle de nord.Même par temps calme, l’accostage en annexe est di " cile : mieux vaut chausser des palmes pour rejoindre la superbe plage. Déserte et privée,Dog Island est un véritable sanctuaire pour les oiseaux. Fous et frégates y nichent et défendent bruyamment leurs nids. Les cactus “têtes à l’Anglais” et les lys sauvages renforcent le charme de cet îlot préservé et rarement fréquenté. Les amateurs de snorkeling seront comblés au sud de West Cay. Rappelons enfin que Dog Island fait partie du Marine Park d’Anguilla et qu’il est interdit d’y passer la nuit. G reat Bay, beautiful but often rolly, is the only possible anchorage around Dog Island, and it becomes unusable with a north swell. Even in calm conditions, landing by dinghy can be tricky — fins are often the best option to reach the stunning beach. Deserted and privately owned, Dog Island is a true bird sanctuary, where boobies and frigates nest and noisily defend their territory. ‘Englishman’s head’ cacti and wild lilies add to the charm of this rarely visited islet. Snorkelers will find real delight south of West Cay. Please note that Dog Island is part of Anguilla’s Marine Park and overnight stays are prohibited.
