Réserve Naturelle E stablished in 1998, the Saint-Martin National Nature Reserve covers 3,060 hectares in the northeastern part of the island. Its marine area, extending over 2,900 hectares, lies on the plateau connecting Anguilla, Saint-Martin, and Saint Barthélemy. The Reserve safeguards major ecosystems such as mangroves, seagrass beds, coral reefs, coastal forests, and salt ponds. It is home to a remarkably diverse range of marine and terrestrial species, including several protected ones. Its mission is built around three main pillars : Managing : monitoring the health of ecosystems and maintaining habitats to preserve biodiversity and ecological balance. Protecting : enforcing legal protection through regulations tailored to the local context and environmental challenges. Educating : raising public awareness of the richness and functioning of nature, to ensure the long-term conservation of this natural heritage.
